Chief Engineer

Department: Prop Ops
Location: Young Harris, GA

**Job Summary:**
The Chief Engineer at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa oversees the maintenance and preventive maintenance of the entire facility. This role involves administrative and supervisory duties to ensure the facility operates smoothly and efficiently.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Inspecting and monitoring buildings, equipment, and surrounding areas to determine maintenance requirements.
- Developing work procedures, assigning personnel, and ensuring the best services and productivity.
- Preparing cost estimates, repair options, and collaborating with appropriate personnel on maintenance budgeting and planning.
- Requesting bid proposals from outside contractors and ensuring cost-effective purchases.
- Keeping records of work, maintenance costs, and utilities usage.
- Developing and implementing the Resorts Environmental, Health, and Safety Program.
- Conducting safety training and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Overseeing emergency situations until appropriate agencies arrive on the scene.
- Maintaining a secure building and ensuring staff are properly trained.
- Conducting regular inspections for repairs and maintenance.

**Supervisory Responsibilities:**
Manages employees in the Engineering area, responsible for their direction, coordination, evaluation, and compliance with organizational policies and laws.

**Qualifications:**
- Carpentry skills
- HVAC knowledge, certification preferred
- Refrigeration and pool operation experience
- Electrical, generator, and mechanical skills
- Project management, safety knowledge, plumbing expertise
- Leadership, scheduling, and budgeting abilities

**Education and/or Experience:**
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

**Language Skills:**
Ability to read, write, and speak effectively.

**Mathematical Skills:**
Proficiency in basic math including algebra and geometry.

**Reasoning Ability:**
Capable of problem-solving and following instructions.

**Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:**
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
- CFC Refrigerant Handling License
- Safe Serve certification

**Other Skills and Abilities:**
Ability to read blueprints, troubleshoot, and possess clear knowledge of building trades.

**Physical Demands:**
Requires physical stamina including lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds.

**Work Environment:**
Involves exposure to various environmental conditions such as weather, mechanical parts, and chemicals, with moderate noise levels.
